Hi Coyote families!
Most of you are likely aware of the new law regarding Personal Electronic Communication Devices (cell phones and similar devices) that takes effect September 1, 2026. Over the past several months, we have been developing a policy by gathering input from students, parents, staff, community members, and the Board of Education.
Attached is a letter explaining the work completed and how the policy will function. We will pilot the policy starting Wednesday, April 1st. Our goal in piloting the policy now is to identify and address any issues before it officially takes effect.
Please review the letter. On Monday, after final data is collected, I will send additional materials, including the legislation, a summary of the law, the pilot policy (effective 4-1-26), the consequence chart, and a parent/student acknowledgment form to print, sign, and return.

Attention parents, students, and staff. We wanted to make you aware of a change that will be happening effective immediately. We are no longer able to store student lunches in our main walk in cooler at the school. Students who bring a lunch will need to provide proper cold pack storage in their lunchboxes and store them in their lockers. No students will be allowed access to this area for any reason without the direct supervision of a teacher or class sponsor. Thank you.

Thank you Weskan Coyotes for our first trip to state since 2004. We enjoyed cheering for you! 💜💛🏀 Because of the late night we will have a 2 HOUR DELAY tomorrow, Wednesday, March 11. School will begin at 9:50. No breakfast will be served. The rest of the week will follow our normal schedule. Drive safely!

I wanted to get this message out as soon as possible, now that we have the details for this week. Tomorrow, Tuesday, March 10, we will have an early dismissal to allow for attendance at the State Basketball Tournament in Dodge City. Students will eat lunch before leaving, and dismissal will take place at 1:00 p.m.
More information will follow outlining the possible changes taking place this week.

The FFA Dodgeball Tournament will be held on the alternate date, March 26th at the school. Join us for a free will donation hamburger / hot dog feed starting at 5:00 pm with dodgeball tourney to folllow at 6:00 pm. Good luck at state basketball this week! Go Coyotes! 💜🏀💛
Tomorrow morning in the small gym NHS will have Snack Sacks available for purchase with two sizes to choose from (large- $10, small- $5) for grades 6-12.
Cinnamon rolls and coffee / hot chocolate will also be available for purchase for all grades (rolls- $1, drinks- $2).

Congratulations to our Coyote Basketball team for their first state appearance in 22 years!!
For the first round game, the Coyotes will be playing Cunningham this Tuesday at United Wireless Arena in Dodge City. Game will start at 5:00 MT/6:00 CT.
With a win, the tournament would move to Emporia State University on Thursday.
