Dear Coyote Families,
I want to take a moment to address a recent PowerSchool notification that some of you may have received. PowerSchool is the student management system we use to track attendance, grades, and other essential student and staff information. Recently, some families have received emails from PowerSchool regarding a data breach.
I want to reassure you that this incident did not directly impact the Weskan School PowerSchool internal system. However, our student information is housed within their system because we utilize PowerSchool's platform.
Our system contains fundamental details such as names, phone numbers, email addresses, and home addresses. However, PowerSchool does not store financial or other identifiers such as Social Security Numbers or banking information. If you have received an email from PowerSchool, I encourage you to review the details carefully and take any necessary steps regarding the identity theft protection services it provides.
I have also been informed that emails are being sent from individuals related to the data breach who may have your or your student's name and are asking questions about the breach. We can't confirm that they are from PowerSchool, so be cautious.
If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out.

Due to a rain/snow mix, worsening high winds, and poor county road conditions, I am CANCELING SCHOOL today, Tuesday, March 4th. After sliding around in town, I wouldn’t let my kids drive in this weather. We plan to make up the day on Friday, March 7th. Dr. Seuss activities may be rescheduled. Thanks for understanding.

We are going to be on a 2 hour delay to start with because of high winds and freezing rain/snow mix. No preschool or breakfast served. Depending on where you are, you may be experiencing something different. Dirt roads are softer than expected. I will re-evaluate at 7:30

🏀 Reminder! 🏀
HS BB tonight in Goodland!
5:00 MT Tip-Off vs Central Christian.
We will NOT be able to livestream tonight, but you can listen to the game on Ad Astra Radio 95.9 or on their website. Go Coyotes!

6th grade parents. Tomorrow we will be participating in a community service clean up project (unless the weather gets yucky). We will be picking up trash around the track, football field, and just to the south of the fball field. Please wear clothes that can get dirty. We will provide gloves and trash bags. If you do not want your child to participate, please text me by noon tomorrow.

🏀🏀 Reminder for tomorrow, HS Girls Basketball will be hosting Otis-Bison in Weskan! Tip-off at 5:00 MT. 🏀🏀
Admission for the game is $8.00 for adults, $6.00 for students. All game/concession workers, band members, etc will be on the pass gate.
Go Coyotes!

Parents, it's that time of year again! Here is the link for 7-12 conferences. Please sign-up for a time. Details are to the right side of sign up slots on the spreadsheet. Can't wait to share your child's progress! https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1C1uHwG0BFOQ3ZjkOx6ilt7v8QOLeA5Cp08AGgq9q6Dg/edit

Good Morning, Weskan Community! Due to the weather lately and lack of practice time, I felt it was best to reschedule the concert. The 6-12 Band Concert has been moved to Thursday, March 6th @7pm! Thank you!

Hi Weskan Families! Due to the predicted extreme temperatures expected overnight, we will be on a 2-hour delayed start for Wed. 2-19-25. No breakfast will be served. Parents, if you feel it is unsafe for your students to drive to school, keep them home and call them in. They will be responsible for the work missed. Ultimately, we want everyone safely here and learning, but I also understand that the county roads could be bad where you live. If we have to take a snow day tomorrow or Thursday, we plan to make it up on Friday the 21st. Stay warm and safe!
Also, the Music Concert scheduled for Thursday will be rescheduled to allow enough time for the kids to be ready. More information will follow,

Two activity items:
1. The HS BB game with Tribune will not be made up. We will release seedings and postseason schedule tomorrow when KSHSAA releases it.
2. JH League Scholars Bowl on Wednesday has been postponed. Makeup date is TBD.

HS BB games today at Tribune are cancelled. A makeup date has not been decided yet.

Hi Coyote Families, I apologize for the delay in sending this update. I was up at 5 AM checking the weather and hoped we’d have a clearer picture by 7 AM. Unfortunately, the paved roads are covered with snow and are slick in places, combined with the extreme cold that could cause serious issues if anyone experiences car trouble.
Making this decision is always challenging, with so many factors to consider, but in the end, I’d rather be safe than sorry. Because of the road and the temperature, school is canceled today, February 18, 2025, due to the hazardous road conditions and extreme cold. I apologize for the late notice, and thank you for your understanding.

No NHS coffee bar tomorrow because of the delay. We'll be back next week!

Hi Weskan Families! Due to the severe temperature & wind chill expected overnight for Tuesday, February 18th, the school will begin on a 2-hour delay starting at 9:50 AM. There will be no morning pre-school session and no breakfast. We will provide any further updates in the morning if necessary. Stay warm and safe!
