April 16, 2008
On April 5, 2008, the Weskan high school soloists and small ensemble groups, headed to Oberlin for the 2008 Regional competition. A total of five groups and 18 soloists completed the team. They were judged on a scale of one to five. A I is the highest rating you can receive, while a V is the lowest. Each participant needed to receive a I rating to move on to the state level. After a hard day of performing, the results were posted. Three of the four ensembles, the Flute Trio (Deanna H., Emma C., Brynne H), Girls Ensemble and the Girls Trio (Savannah N., Hollie M., Danica C.) , received a I and will go on to state. The soloists did equally well and five performers will participate in the State Music Festival: Deanna H.-flute, Emma C.-flute, Brynne H.-flute, Savannah N.-vocal, and Hillary M.-vocal. Mrs. Hale, Weskan music teacher, was pleased with the whole group. “I was proud of the hard work the students put in to prepare for Saturday. They did their best, and that’s all I can ask for.” These hardworking students will compete at the state competition on April 26. Hope to see you there!
