The Weskan Scholar’s Bowl team has been
busy these past couple of weeks traveling to Rexford for their
first meet and Leoti on the 12th. In the first tournament, Weskan
competed against Golden Plains, Wheatland-Grinnell, Sharon Springs,
Cheylin, Rawlins Country, Triplains and Brewster. Weskan came out
of this tournament with three wins against Rawlins County,
Triplains and Brewster and barely losing to Sharon Springs by five
points.
In
Leoti, the team faced some larger schools but was able to come out
with one victory. However, most of the matches were lost only by a
few questions. They competed against Leoti, Cimmaron, Stanton Co.,
Dighton, Oakley, and Scott City.
The team is made up of 2 returning members
from last season, Emma Cress and Will Horn, and 8 new
participants; Savannah Nulton, Alicia Smith, Brynne Hale, Garrett
Reiss, Tanner Nulton, Nathan McKinney, Zach Hilgemann, and Wilson
Cress. Of those, 4 are seniors and the remainder of the team are
freshmen. Weskan has won 4 out of nine matches so far and are
hoping to improve their record throughout the season as they
compete in more tournaments.
