On April 19, 2018, the High School Art class and the Art Appreciation class took a trip to the Denver Art Museum. Sponsors, Jessica Cox and Lynn Kasten, considered this a once in a lifetime opportunity to see world famous artists’ work, including the Edgar Degas exhibit. They thought it would be a great idea to let these students experience art in a new way.
Throughout the day, the students and sponsors enjoyed time in the city, including touring the Denver Art Museum and eating at the Cheesecake Factory. “My favorite part of the day was actually the ride up to Denver! I rode with Mrs. Cox and it was pretty cool to get to know her better outside of school,” said Jenna See.
While at the Denver Art Museum, the students got to see artwork by famous artists, as well as learn more about the artwork through a self-guided tour! Sponsor Jessica Cox said, “I just enjoyed trying to put myself in the artist’s shoes while I got to look at the original artwork!”
After spending a day at the Art Museum, the sponsors and students headed over to the Cheesecake Factory. Hannah Cress said, “Ohhh! My favorite part about the Cheesecake Factory was looking at the menu! There are so many different kinds of cheesecake. Yes, it was expensive, but it was definitely worth it!”
Overall, the students had a great time experiencing art, fancy food, and of course, a chance to bond with the other students and sponsors.
